About us
A stall at Manek Chowk, and twelve years of getting it right.
Sai Fruits opened on 13 February 2014 in the fruit market at Manek Chowk. It is still the same family, the same two shop numbers, and the same way of working: buy well, grade honestly, and move it before it ages.

The fruit and vegetable market at Manek Chowk, Danapith
Our story
Started small, on purpose.
Manish Bhai took shops 15 and 16 in the Manek Chowk fruit market in February 2014 with a single line and a short list of buyers. The plan was never to be the biggest trader on the floor — it was to be the one a retailer could ring at six in the morning and trust the answer.
That reputation was built one crate at a time. Buyers who started with a box of apples now take mango through the whole Kesar season. Juice counters that came for mosambi stayed for kiwi and passion fruit. Nearly every account we hold came from someone on the floor pointing at our shop.
Today Pawan handles the enquiries and the day's rates, Manish Bhai still buys the arrivals himself, and between eighty and a hundred buyers work with us across the year.
How we got here
Twelve years, five turns.
Each of these changed what we could promise a buyer, which is the only kind of growth worth marking.
2014
Shops 15 and 16 open
Sai Fruits starts trading at Manek Chowk on 13 February 2014, working a handful of retail counters in Danapith and the old city.
2016
The mango season doubles
Direct booking with Gir and Talala growers turns Kesar from a line we bought into a line we could promise, and the season becomes the year's anchor.
2019
Ripening moves in-house
Our own chamber means banana and papaya leave the shop at the stage a buyer asked for, instead of the stage the truck happened to deliver.
2022
The exotic counter opens
Kiwi, avocado, dragon fruit and berries added on a booking model, for hotels and juice bars whose customers had started asking.
Today
Eighty to a hundred buyers
Eighteen-odd lines across the year, open seven days, and still run by the two people whose names are over the door.
How we work
Four rules the shop has never bent.
They cost us business now and again. They are also the reason most of our buyers have never gone looking for a second supplier.
Buy it ourselves
Manish Bhai is at the arrivals himself. Nobody grades our fruit on our behalf, which is why we can tell you where a lot came from and how it was handled.
Say the hard thing
If the anar is weak this week or the mango is a fortnight off its best, you hear that before you hear the price. A bad crate costs us more than a lost sale.
Keep it moving
Fruit is a business run on hours, not days. We would rather clear a line at a fair rate than hold it for a better one and hand you tired fruit.
Answer the phone
Small buyer or standing account, the reply comes the same day. Most of what we have was built by being reachable when it mattered.
Who you will deal with
Two people, both on the floor.
No sales desk between you and the people who buy the fruit. You get one of these two.
Manish Bhai
Owner
Opened the shop in 2014 and still buys every arrival. If you want to talk grades, sizes or where a lot was grown, this is the conversation.
